 SONGWRITER SHOWCASE
at VAGABOND BLUES

Big Lake, Alaska (October 23, 2010):  Songwriters of Alaska’s 2010/2011 season is underway and its next performance event will be a Songwriter Showcase at Vagabond Blues in Palmer on Saturday, November 13th, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The showcase will feature original music by four Songwriters of Alaska members: Michael Faubion, Stephen Hendricks, Amy Lou Hettinger and Vedran Jukic.

Michael Faubionhas been performing around the U.S. for over 30 years. He originally started out on clarinet, which he later traded for an acoustic guitar. His music incorporates folk, country and Americana stylings. His latest CD, "Travelin," is expected to be released in December. http://www.reverbnation.com/michaelfaubion

Stephen Hendricks began writing instrumentals while in the Navy and later parlayed his skill at poetry into lyric writing. His style blends jazz, classical and folk with a little Spanish and New Age in the mix. He is known for his fingerstyle guitar, usually played in alternate, or open, tunings. Steve’s lyrics are often about love or humorous interpretations of the human condition.

Amy Lou Hettinger moved to Alaska three years ago and promptly fell in love with the Alaskan mountains and people. These and other bits of the world's goodness inspire her songs. F Magazine says, “She weaves an enchanting web of delicate yet deliberate musical poetry. She has the smooth vocal gait of Amy Mann and the occasional innocence of Dar Williams in her delivery.” She released her first CD this summer, “Of Roots and Of Wings.” www.amyloumusic.com

Vedran Jukic was born in Croatia and began writing songs with his brother’s guitar at the age of 16. He has performed at open mics around southcentral Alaska and is the founder of the Lady Killers Band. His musical influences are the Croatian music scene, The Beatles and oldies style songs. He enjoys writing about true love. www.MySpace.com/croatiansensationladykillersband
