Southcentral, Alaska (March 22, 2011): Songwriters of Alaska presents its final Songwriter Showcaseof the season at Organic Oasis, in Anchorage, Saturday, April 9th, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The showcase will feature original music by four members: Melanie Trost, Randy Souhrada, Voni K and Gabrielle White.
Melanie Trost offers acoustic guitar and vocals with a folksy and country flavor. She grew up listening to her bronco riding dad play and sing country music. An early musical debut of songs played around a bonfire with friends and family has grown to include original compositions performed at local venues and festivals. www.myspace.com/melanietrost
Randy Souhrada is a home-grown artist, born and raised in Delta Junction. He has written original music for more than twenty years. Randy is the founding member of the local band ADD. His music is a kaleidoscope of experiences and relations lost and fostered. www.myspace.com/addbassplayer
Voni K has been immersed in music from the time she was young and has performed jazz, contemporary, musical theater and opera. A long-time Alaskan, she believes that each new song is a living, breathing entity and that humans are all connected through music and the arts. Gabrielle White is a folk-styled artist who credits her inspiration to artists such as Simon and Garfunkel, Sarah McLachlan and Joni Mitchell. Her purpose in songwriting is finding the good in life and also pointing out what needs working on. www.myspace.com/gabijwhite
